A Father’s Farewell: A Christian Biblical Interpretation of a Funeral Dream
Was at a funeral for my dad. While waiting the church sang old timey songs I didn’t know. There were 4 of us on a row and k was sitting by my new husband I didn’t know well. The “family memeber” beside me was saying how she grew up in Minnesota and didn’t know any of these songs. We were trying to sing alto. It started with us in a church around a table and then morphed into the first 4 pews. My brother David was seated directly in front of me, his wife was on the same row. When one of the songs was finished, that’s when I realized the sanctuary was extremely cold and moved over next to my husband for warmth. I wrapped up in the quilt that was lying under me. Then it hit me my dad was gone. As the staff was preparing to roll him out I was sad I would never see him again and realized the casket had a glass upper portion and I could see him. I commented on happy he looked and how thankful I was that I had cut his hair Thursday. I handed a box of tissues to the people in front and mom said something. But as they rolled him out I could hear his voice saying several things we all m ew he said but The only words I remember hearing him say from the afterlife are: thank you God I didn’t make one wrong turn.” Emotions upon waking were sadness mixed with gratitude. A need to see him. A desire to remember. Remembering that he always prayed Thank you God for one more day of life.
