Overcoming Fear and Society’s Perception in a Dream

Overcoming Fear and Society’s Perception in a Dream
I dreamt I was walking down the street (which looked like an Indian street, I think), like other people. Suddenly, I saw two men running. They were wearing green/khaki green clothes. They were physically deformed, and it was obvious to me that these people were disabled. As a result, I wasn't at all afraid of them: to me, they were human beings like any others. But suddenly, the crowd had started to run, as if they saw in these two men something hostile, monstrous and frightening. As far as I was concerned, I knew they posed no threat whatsoever. I told myself there was no point in running. So I decided not to. However, just then, a woman had grabbed my arm and forced me into this frantic run, as if to “get away” from the two invalids, whom the (now very large) crowd considered “zombies”. Despite the mass panic, I still wasn't afraid of these two individuals, but I started running.

This dream may symbolize the dreamer’s struggle with societal norms and expectations. The dreamer is walking down a street that resembles an Indian street, possibly representing a sense of unfamiliarity or being out of place. Suddenly, two physically deformed men appear, but the dreamer is not afraid of them. This could represent the dreamer’s acceptance and understanding of people with disabilities, seeing them as human beings like any others. However, the crowd’s reaction to the men as hostile and monstrous may represent society’s fear and discrimination towards those who are different. The dreamer’s decision not to run could symbolize their defiance against societal pressure to conform. The woman who forces the dreamer to run may represent the dreamer’s own internalized fear and insecurity. Overall, this dream may suggest the dreamer’s struggle to overcome societal expectations and fear, and to embrace diversity and individuality.
