The Disillusionment of National Identity in a Dream

The Disillusionment of National Identity in a Dream
I was at a banquet hall. I knew i was dreaming, I went over to my mother and brother who were in the banquet hall and told them, “look you are currently asleep dreaming but I need you to trust in the lord when you wake up, believe in the lord Jesus Christ.” They denied it, I went over to my dad and he agreed and accepted Christ. I went over to the stage area in this banquet hall and there were who I knew in my spirit to be former United States marines here in the banquet hall commemorating something to do with their former service but there was not a single United States marine logo, insignia or anything identifiable as something pertaining or resembling the United States anything. Nor could the former U.S. marines acknowledge by name “the United States”. There was a hewn down tree that I knew in my spirit previously was decorated to commemorate the United States marines but it would missing all decorations and was hewn down and naked only covering itself with the leaves it had left. The marines that were there too were in very plain suits with no ties, you could tell they were former marines in the spirit but they could not wear or would not wear anything resembling being a former United States marine.

The dreamer finds themselves in a banquet hall, a symbol of celebration and abundance. However, the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming and uses this opportunity to spread a message of faith to their family. The dreamer’s mother and brother, representing familial ties and traditional beliefs, reject the message while their father, representing authority and guidance, accepts it. This could suggest a struggle between personal beliefs and societal expectations. The dreamer then encounters former United States marines, a symbol of national pride and strength. However, the marines are unable to acknowledge their former identity, represented by the lack of logos and insignia. The hewn down tree, once decorated to honor the marines, now stands naked and vulnerable, perhaps symbolizing the disillusionment of national identity. The marines themselves are dressed plainly, rejecting any association with their former identity. This dream could reflect the dreamer’s own struggle with their national identity and the pressure to conform to societal expectations.
