Unlocking Creativity: A Dream About Writing and Accountability

Unlocking Creativity: A Dream About Writing and Accountability
I had a dream I was taking a writing class. Some of my friends in waking life (Charlie, Anab) had taken the class before with me but dropped out for the next semester. I was still in the class. The teacher was a blend of different people. The bald guy from My Dinner with Andre plus Mr. Roche my high school english teacher. The class started inside a classroom that seemed like my childhood piano school. Then it moved to an outside place. The outside class was at a big park and there were stone bleachers built into the side of a hill where we were all sitting listening to the lecture. Across from the bleachers was a big sandbox where people were sitting. The writing teacher asked what the best method of writing was. Or maybe what was my method. I was called on and answered “I set a goal, like 10 pages a week. Then I tell a friend to have accountability. Then I hit the goal. If I miss it it carries into the next week. Like if I miss 10 pages the next week I would have to do 20.” The teacher says that’s good and Dasha Nekrasova is sitting in the sandbox. She shouts “See! That’s my method and it works so well! I taught you that and now you and Hayley are both using it!” I remember feeling a little annoyed like she didn’t teach me that, but also was graceful about it.

This dream may symbolize your desire to improve your writing skills and achieve success in your creative pursuits. The presence of your friends who dropped out of the class could represent your fear of failure or self-doubt in your abilities. The teacher, a blend of different people, may represent your inner critic or the different influences and techniques you have encountered in your writing journey. The childhood piano school and the outside park could symbolize your past and present environments, suggesting that your writing journey has been a long and ongoing process. The stone bleachers and sandbox may represent structure and playfulness, respectively, in your approach to writing. Your method of setting a goal and having accountability may reflect your determination and discipline in achieving your writing goals. The appearance of Dasha Nekrasova, a figure of authority and mentor, may symbolize your own inner wisdom and guidance. Your annoyance at her taking credit for your method may suggest your need for recognition and validation. Overall, this dream may be encouraging you to trust in your abilities and continue on your writing journey with determination and accountability.
